Measuring For Your Door
Measuring for a barn door is very easy.
Making one is not!
That's why we are here for you.
Follow these simple steps and we will know quickly if you have the room for a door and what kind you would like.
Measure the door you currently have.
Find the middle of the door, this is usually where the door knob is. With a level pass of the tape measure, find the width of the door. Keep in mind, the standard doors are even numbers: 24″, 30″, 32″, 36″ and 40″ are very common. Write this measurement down as Door Width.
Measure the casing.
This is the decorative wood that surrounds your door opening. Go from outside to outside. Keep in mind, these correlate with your current door size. For example: a standard 32″ door will usually have a 37″ casing if it is a standard fit door. However, builders with custom doors could vary the casing size. Write this measurement down as Casing Width.
Measure the height.
This will be from the floor to the top of the door casing. Standard doors will be about 82″-83″. Write this down as Door Height.
